Brentwood housing: tree named streets, ranch first, over 150 lots

Brentwood's exact parcel count isn't settled. A Johnson County query capped at 150 records came back with a full page, so the community is known to hold at least 150 parcels and the true figure is higher, and lot numbering inside Section 3 alone runs past 175. That puts it well above the 120 to 130 lot norm for plats in this part of White River Township, where Innisbrooke sits at about 120 and Foxberry Trace at 128. Sections 2 and 3 are both on file. Builder, lot size and year built are absent from the county layer, so none of the three appears here as a number.

The style record puts ranch first and two story traditional second, which is the reverse of the newer plats and consistent with the 1960s to 1980s era the canopy implies. Practically that means a lot of single level houses with wide, relatively short openings and living space at grade. The tree names run the whole plat: Mahogany, Teakwood, Thornwood, Yellowwood, Driftwood, Laurelwood, Blue Spruce, Sequoia and Tulip. Runyon Road carries the frontage and is the address people give when they're describing where Brentwood is. One caution worth repeating: Brentridge Estates is a different Greenwood plat with a different layout, and the two get mixed up constantly in searches and in supplier records.

Brentwood windows: shallow depth, settled openings, deep shade

It sits in White River Township and straddles ZIPs 46142 and 46143, which is unusual for a single plat and a regular source of confusion in address records. Schools are Center Grove Community School Corporation, feeding Center Grove Middle School and Center Grove High School. In this part of Johnson County the school corporation, not the city line, is how people say where they live, and Brentwood addresses read Greenwood while the township reads White River.
